Festival shorts: Love It!

I absolutely love these shorts!

I also love the fact that you can make these yourself... with an old pair of jeans, dye and scissors.

These are definitely on my list of 'things to do'.

I'll give you all a DIY when I get to it!

Pom Poms : DIY

Making Pom-Poms can be a fun and rewarding task, and they are great to add to beanies, earrings, clothes, key-rings and much more!

So, I made a little DIY on how to make Pom-Poms.

Things you'll need:

- Wool/yarn
- Cardboard
- craft knife (if you have one)
- scissors

Step 1: Cut Out 2 cardboard circles (with inner circles drawn on the inside of each circle).
The size of your circle will determine the size of your Pom-Pom.

Step 2: Get a craft knife OR carefully stab a hole in the middle circle and use small scissors to cut out the inner hole.

Step 3: Put the two cardboard circles that you have cut out, next to each other and tie your string to it.
Use relatively small pieces of string so it will fit through the hole when you thread it through.
Once you come to the end of that string, you can just tie another small piece onto it.

Step 4: Wind the string around your circles (quiet tightly) and continue to the next round.

         - Make sure you leave no gaps.

Step 5: Once the circle is completely covered and you have done at least 3 layers... Its time for cutting.

- Take your scissors and place them in-between your two cardboard circles & cut around the outer  edge of the disk-like pompom.

Step 6: Once you have done this, get a piece of wool and tie it in-between the 2 cardboard circles.

           Tie tightly.

Step 7: After this, you can cut the cardboard circles carefully and remove them from your Pom Pom.

Step 8: Now for some tidying up... Cut around your pom-pom to get rid of untidy and loose ends.

DONE!!

Now if you want to make a colourful pom-pom, there isn't much of a difference in the making of it, but here is what you do:

1.) Make sure you have a variety of different coloured wools/yarn of your choice.

2.) This time, every time you tie another piece of string to the last small piece; change your colour.

* Notice the difference in colour in the above image. This is how it will look.

-You can change the colour as many times as you want.

3.) Continue with the same steps as the plain coloured pom-pom. (step 4-8)

FINISHED!

Hope you enjoy making these, I know I did! :-)

Cute Crochet Earrings : DIY

If you're looking for something unique and artsy to wear in your ears and feel like getting a little bit crafty, this is the perfect thing for you to do!

Things you will need:

- yarn/ wool
- crochet hook
- scissors
- Hoop earrings

If you already know how to crochet... GREAT! but if not, heres a little guideline link for help..

www.wikihow.com/Crochet-a-Flower
(This is really nice as it shows you how to go one step further and make pretty flowers, I just stuck to the basics for the moment.)

Don't worry if it takes you a while to get the hang of it, It can be very difficult at the beginning as it's quiet a fiddly task and you have to have patience...but the end result is very rewarding, so its WORTH IT! :-)

You will probably end up with a few, as you will need to try and get two that match..

NOTE: Cut and leave enough string behind, which will still be attached to your little crochet piece ( you will use this to tie the crochet piece onto your earrings)

Here is a close-up of some, they have really pretty detail on them, which makes for a perfect unique earring.

Once you have made two well-matching crochet pieces, you are ready to tie them onto your hoop earrings.

You will need to take the two little string pieces that are left behind on your crochet piece and tie a knot with it around your hoop earring. Then do the same with the other.

Once you have done that... VOILA!!

Now you will have your own 'pretty crochet earrings' which you have made yourself!

These look cute with any outfit and you are guaranteed to get some compliments on your original style!

If you want, you can even add on your own little details such a sewing on some beads to the earrings, etc.

Hope you enjoy and have fun making these..
